It's just what the in-camera software does in Bright mode. It tries to pick up the brightest interactions from each shot and retain them. This really isn't the intended application for Bright mode. Bright mode ME is more intended for things like fireworks where you can blend multiple bursts together, or where there are obviously different/varied bright elements in each shot etc...

What exactly is it that you've tried? Love the effect but no idea how you've applied the chopped leaves. Hope's maturing fast!
