This one might be teensy bit sharper but I prefer your main nomination. I'm wondering would it be "better" for him to be looking across the frame rather than out of it?

Sandy sums it up nicely. From a technical point of view I like the eye catch-lights, particularly her right - where it's emerging between strands of hair.
