It really is strange to think of people sitting on these rocks assiduously scratching these patterns/forms, people gone now but their art lives on.

OK I see now I'm going backwards in time. No matter. Yeah, I was wondering if they were some kind of "water boatmen" on the left. Good feeding for birdies. Akin to African waterholes.
