I don't know either, but they're always fun! It is a pleasing scene to work with - signs of persistent aridity with the cactuses, complemented by some greener tones (recent rains?), and some bare earth. Nice depth too with a strong foreground anchor an d a nice line of distant hills.

Top find! Very similar to a huge python we encountered on a jungle track in PNG - beautiful creatures. No head shot?

The sunburst next door is nice, but I prefer this composition, being closer to the edge so we get to take in more of the valley floor below. I know it can be a bit of a scramble trying to catch the sun in unfamiliar terrain, and clearly this was particularly challenging.

I suspect her picture wasn't a patch on yours. I can't see what lens she's using, but unlikely to pick up any of the nice fore and middle ground highlights from her position. You weren't tempted to creep up behind her and say Hello?
