Spectacular lighting - excitement generated by just shooting from a different angle wrt the sun. Sky and land really go well together here.

Very nice, for the same reasons as two similar from last month, but I like them more.

This frame is so challenging, both in colour and B&W. A classic "fight" between sky and land, both of which are worthy of an image in their own right. I wonder if a portrait or square format frame might accommodate both better, although the geographer in me wants to see more of the ground detail included. FWIW I often get caught up in the same composition conflict between land and sky, and spend a heap of time trying to resolve it, but rarely entirely happy with my choices. Dilemma defined. My preference here would be to sacrifice some more sky.

My fave of the reworkings. Again, I haven't seen this in real life but my perception is that the colours are pretty close to the real thing. Love the spread of land features and the contrasting road wandering across the frame. The sky's a treat, although a bit more taken off the top would enhance a panoramic effect. The foreground greens are an effective anchor and they complement the prevailing reds. Definitely a ripper!

Yeah this is nice; appeals to my innate liking for panoramic images, and the un-coperative cloud formation has been banished. At another scale I really like the tonal variations on the cliff faces.
