@Graeme, yeah, but I'm thinking maybe shorter exposures to compensate (to keep it dark) might wor? Can't hurt to try... It may just be that the lightning has to be at a certain intensity to show up no matter what? The sky was a lot darker this time compared to last time, but most of the big lightning was closer last time too..

Would never tire of displays like this, amazing.
The problem with boosting the ISO is that lightening is ridiculously bright, you wouldn't want to wash out the ones that are visible. I am thinking maybe a darker location would help more to get the full show but that has its own drawbacks obviously.
