I think you're on the money with the Kingsnake ID. I did a reverse image search on Google and came up with one very close match but it was a Reddit post from AZ suggesting Kingsnake but seeking confirmation. There was quite a lot of pattern variation, some of which seemed to depend on the angle at which the photo was taken. Either way, it's a great find that I hope you enjoyed. I note that you didn't use all the FL available to you

Never see snakes here in the UK, but growing up in South Africa there were plenty around - often saw black and green mambas in the garden, puff adders etc in Durban, and then Cape cobras in the Western Cape - often sunning themselves on the roads where it was warm. Many of course ended up flattened...

Took me a while to even notice there was two people

An abrupt jump into focus from the blurry foreground. Is there a small drop in the ground level causing this or am I missing something? Crazy bird has lost its legs.
