Great that he's using his phone. I was in his camp for years, using my SP1000 and predecessors to document/record features of the natural environment, without really thinking about creative opportunities. Being drawn more towards the latter has been one of the big rewards of joining PF.

Haha I don't mind the expression. I guess maybe because I know Zion and know he was messing around... And I like the blurry gap between train cars. And I think I like the blown out rebellious highs/highlights that fit his (jokingly) rebellious look. And how that can be a play on the words of his shirt, to free our minds of the 'rules' that sometimes don't apply.

He is an interesting lad... Very different mind than mine. He has flirted with photography (broke my K100D) but has let it pass. He isn't as interested in conceptual things and artistic expression. He is a very factual matter of fact oriented person. Whereas I am more about connecting and extrapolating conceptual understanding from facts for creative expression etc, and don't really pay much attention to the facts in and of themselves. All that to say If he does get more into photography, I can see it being more about record collection, to help him with his facts, etc than something he does for creative expression. I could be wrong. He got an Iphone for his bday and has been using it a little bit to record on this trip so far.. I might be wearing off on him a little bit as I keep showing him what I'm doing and telling him the photography behind it, so you never know.

I'm really drawn to this one; gets me thinking about what Zion's thinking. Does he have any interest in photography and if so, is he suitably "armed" for this trip?

I like this one too, with the sideways look - the whole thing seems very much in keeping with the shirt text.
