used my travel tripod and two second timer. another instance where my new tripod would have had the advantage as it has a monopod leg I could have switched to with even more height and stability and less weight.

Regretted not remembering to bring my new tripod on this outing. I had my travel tripod stretched to the max and was still at least a foot short of what I really wanted to do here. it really is a challenge to get things level!

Nice, but you've spoiled us I think by leading us to the Hope masterpiece first. Much prefer the colour version.

Fabulous symmetry - like this very much. From a distance, it reminds me of a wrist watch. I can see another trip to the cathedral coming up for me - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery

In many ways I like this even more. Hope comes out particularly well I think, but I find the curved ground either side distracting. But I'm pleased you used the FE as well

I agree; this stands out in the thumbnails. All the elements seem to combine to make Hope the focus. The central trunk plays a big role I know, but I'm also taken with the radiating pattern of branches overhead - like a huge umbrella.

Interesting variations on how the Laowa responds to varying distances, tilt etc. Appreciate them being posted - I've much to learn.

Intriguing exaggeration of the tree, without downsizing Hope too much. Was this taken just holding the camera above your head or did you have something else to stand on?

I've already sensed the strength of the Laowa with these sorts of building shots; I have to work on finding interesting light angles etc to add complexity and appeal. I've also discovered how much more difficult it is to get things level If you want them to be
